BETRAYAL
While Jesus was still speaking, a crowd came up, led by Judas. He greeted Jesus with a kiss, a symbol that Jesus was the man to be arrested. The disciples grew anxious and one struck the high priest’s servant with a sword, cutting off his ear. Jesus stopped their fighting, healed the man’s ear, and went away with them.
(Luke 22:47-53)
Judas betrayed Jesus for money but when he learned Jesus was sentenced to death, he tried to return the silver coins he was paid with. The chief priests did not care to release Jesus and Judas was so distraught, he took his own life.
(Matthew 27:3-5)
Peter, another disciple of Jesus, followed Him as He was arrested. People around Peter recognized him and questioned if he was a follower of Jesus. Peter denied the Lord three times.
